Every once in a while I come across something I feel compelled to share with the world. Whether it’s Banksy and his awesome street art or the craftily deceptive Invisible Man, art is everywhere and it’s something we need to take a moment to enjoy it every once in a while. Plus, I feel like all of you might appreciate a mindlessly cool daily diversion...
Today I’m going to introduce you to yarn bombing. Otherwise known as “guerrilla crochet.” How ironic, right? The last thing I associate with knitting needles is a pack of renegade artists. I suppose you could say it’s the new-age answer to graffiti. Rebellious but artfully inspired. According to YarnBombing.com (yes, it’s a real website), it’s about “improving the urban landscape one stich at a time.”

Apparently the face behind these knitted ambushes is Polish-born, New-York-based artist Olek Agata. Rumor has it she recently struck a bicycle outside the Acne store in Soho in NYC. Could you imagine? I wouldn’t know whether to laugh or cry (because I’d hate to cut it off)!
What’s your favorite thing Olek has yarn bombed?
