Book Club: Our LIVE Chat on The Help Starts Now!

Welcome to our LaurenConrad.com Book Club LIVE online book chat about Kathryn Stockett’s The Help!

I hope everyone has finished reading the book by now. Personally, I couldn’t put it down. The entire time I was sitting on the edge of my seat, dying to know what was going to happen next. Don’t you just love books like that? Anyway, I am very excited to talk about the book with all of you toady, so let’s get this chat started!

Here is the first question:

Do you think Minny went too far with Miss HIlly's pie?

Click here* to join the chat room and answer the question listed above.  I'll join the chat at 4pm PST!

*Note: You will be prompted to create a “username” for the chat room. The username will only be used while the chat is live. If you do not create a username, I will be unable to chat with you. UPDATE: Here's the full manuscript from the live chat... Thanks again for participating!

The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. Such a good book and movie!

I read this book but I never made it online for the live blog.

In terms of Minny's pie to Miss Hilly Holbrook I would say that she wasn't wrong to seek revenge. This woman spread malicious lies for her own benefit stopping Minny from finding other employment when she had a family to support.

My favourite part of the book. Although I do like the part where Abelene was gifted the signed book as recognition of her risk. My favourite part is when Abbe steps up to Hilly when she's threatening her with prison for supposedly stealing her silver. It's like they've realised theres nothing to be scared of no more and that they can fight back and win!

My least favourite part of the book is the social outcasting of Skeeter. I really hate bullying and I feel that all the girls were scared of what Hilly might say if they disobey her. For example Elizabeth trying to get rid of Skeeter before the bridge club arrive.

All in all I loved the book, I think its well written and can really open your eyes to how the segregation of white & coloured people were affected in life and friendships formed.

Can't wait to see which book you choose next.

hey lauren! what if we read a non-fiction book, like 168 hours, the whole book is about time management, and i think it would be fitting since everyone has such busy schedules these days :-)

I missed this book so didnt get to read it but I'm looking foward to the next book. Does anyone know when LC will be saying what the next book is?

Can't wait to join you for the next book.. When will you start?

The Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Flowers in the attic!! :)

I also agree that Perfect Chemistry should DEFINITELY be a next book club book, I read the whole thing in a matter of like 2 days!
