ID Me: To the Max

Last week I attended the reopening of David Yurman’s flagship boutique in Beverly Hills. It was a lovely event and it was nice to see all of the new additions to the collection. Because the event was held on a warm spring evening, I kept my look light and airy. I color-blocked a solid silk maxi skirt by Paper Crown with a pastel tank from Topshop and finished off the look with an oversize vintage clutch and a gorgeous David Yurman bracelet.

Style Tip: Maxi skirts work for most shapes and sizes. Most would think that they look best on particularly tall women, but I would beg to differ. They can be incredibly flattering even if you are on the shorter side. When worn at the natural waist (or higher), they can actually have an elongating effect. To maximize this illusion of added height, pair the maxi with a top in a similar shade as well as heels.

What do you think about my outfit? Where would you wear it?

You look great! I love maxi skirts but it makes my hips look huuuge :/

I absolutely love the outfit you're wearing! I just recently wore an Aryn K. color block maxi skirt to my brother's college graduation, paired with a loose white racerback tank and a Tinley Road black blazer. I received so many compliments. I am definitely loving maxi skirts this season! I would wear your outfit to my boyfriend's birthday dinner this weekend. It's the perfect spring eveing outfit.

lauren conrad fame game tour

Last night was the final stop of my book tour for The Fame Game. Seeing as it was the finale to a long tour, I decided to pull out all the stops. Okay, maybe not all but I did debut a freshly painted pink ponytail. I figure that I might as well have fun experimenting while I’m still young. And it’s only temporary so it’s really not that big of a commitment... Fashion is about having fun and taking chances. Plus the pink tipped pony added the perfect pop of color to my otherwise monochromatic look.

In case you’re wondering what I wore, the top is actually from Urban Outfitters; it’s the Sparkle & Fade Studded Collar Button-Down Blouse. The skirt is Paper Crown and the heels are from my LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s. I like contrasting tough pieces like the studded collar top with more feminine items such as the full skirt. The pairing is unexpected but it still works.

Style Tip: When mixing defined looks like I did (tough + girly), be sure to keep proportions in mind. If you are wearing a short skirt, offset the volume with a modest, close-fitting top and vice versa. Most importantly, remember this: Fashion is not only fun—it’s a balancing act too.

What do you think about my playful, pink-tipped look?

XO Lauren

Lauren stopped by Bookends in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where she kept it simple and wore a boho-inspired Heartloom dress with loose waves and a fresh face… While Lauren looked stunning, we must say that this surprise sweet from Cake Dreams by Deb and Dinacakes (quite literally) takes the cake:

After Lauren bid farewell to Ridgewood, she made her way to Boston where she greeted guests and signed more copies of The Fame Game for fans… Singing aside, we are completely obsessed with Lauren’s short suit look. Take a look:

The white blouse is Madewell, which she paired with her Reformation shorts and a dainty watch and Anita Ko bracelet. Tres chic!

And don’t even get us started on her makeup. You can never go wrong with red lip…

Team LC here! Since Lauren is busy on her book tour today we thought we’d update you on one of her latest looks from the road! If you would like, we can continue to do so too—just let us know in the comments below.

Last night, Lauren held a book signing at Barnes & Noble Union Square in NYC in honor of the release of her newest novel, The Fame Game. But enough about details, let’s get to the good stuff: Fashion!

Lauren wore a lovely little boat neck dress by Lela Rose paired with sky-high nude platform pumps by Casadei. She finished off the look with a tousled up-do and perfectly polished red nails… Love it.

Book signings aside, we think this would be a great look for a bridal shower (if you’re the bride to be—we hear it’s rude for guests to wear white), an upscale brunch, a springtime sorority event or even a hot date (oh la la). What do you think?

Where would you wear this look? (Say that 10 times fast...we dare you.)

Also, don’t forget to let us know if you want us to keep posting updates about Lauren’s latest looks from the road!

LAUREN CONRAD WENDY WILLIAMS

Lauren is on the road and has kicked off her book tour for The Fame Game by stopping by The Wendy Williams Show to chat about life, love, and of course, her new book! In case you’re wondering what Lauren wore, we’ve got you covered…

Lauren’s top is LC Lauren Conrad as are her black heels. Her shorts are Reformation and her jacket is by Paul & Joe. We love how she paired black edgy shorts with a feminine lacy blouse and finished off the look with easy, breezy waves. If you ask you, you can never go wrong with dress shorts, tights and sweet blouse…

In case you missed it, here’s a preview of Lauren’s appearance:

Lauren Conrad Birthday

This past weekend I celebrated my 26th birthday at Hyde, which is a great club in the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Seeing as the celebration took place in the city of lights, I felt that sequins or sparkles were a must. I wore a sparkly little Alice + Olivia number with black LC Lauren Conrad pumps. Since the dress was a statement in and of itself, I kept my accessories minimal and pulled my hair into a high ponytail to complement the higher neckline.

Shop my look! The dress and heels are both available online:

Alice + Olivia Vista Sequined Tunic Dress
LC Lauren Conrad Black Platform Heels

Style Tip: When wearing a dress that is completely sequined or beaded, remember to temper it with simple or minimal accessories. It’s never a good idea to have too many competing elements in one outfit. Let the dress be the statement. Also, don’t be afraid to pull your hair up. A simple ponytail is not only sexy, but it shows strength and confidence too.

How do you wear sparkle?

Last night I went to the 13th Annual Warner Bros. & InStyle Golden Globe After Party at the Beverly Hilton. I had a great time catching up with old friends and thoroughly enjoyed the party. As for my attire, I decided to go for a “less is more” look. I wore a Paper Crown dress, Jimmy Choo heels and a Christian Louboutin clutch. Since the dress was so simple, I paired it with a statement clutch and strappy heels. Sometimes, you just have to let the accessories do the talking…

Last night I attended the launch of “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” event in LA with a few friends. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the night. Since the event was for a video game launch, I decided to keep my look causal but pulled together. The top and blazer are Paper Crown, the pants are Current/Elliot, the heels are LC Lauren Conrad and the clutch is a little something I picked up in Bali. As for the necklace, I’ve had for a really long time and I cannot recall where I got it…

In LA, jeans are deemed appropriate for most occasions. While I love my denim, I think it’s fun to mix it up for evening events by wearing leather leggings. The tough leather-like pants add a touch of edge to an otherwise simple outfit. I also love the contrast of the soft silk blouse and the sharp blazer with the rugged pants. Needless to say, my favorite part about this outfit is its versatility. It can be worn everywhere from the office to after-work cocktails or even a dinner date.

Style Tip: Instead of pairing ultra feminine pieces together, mix it up by adding in a masculine element. It creates a lovely contrast that’s stylish and cool.

Where would you wear this outfit?

ID Me: My Plunging Paillette Look

A couple nights ago I went to the Autumn Party benefit. It was an amazing evening and the event was for a great cause, the Children’s Institute. There was even a runway show, where I sat front row and watched Yigal Azrouel’s beautiful designs strut down the catwalk. Now for the fun details: What did I wear? My dress was BCBG, the shoes were Jimmy Choo and the bag was a vintage treasure I picked up during a recent trip. I picked the dress because it felt sexy, but with a youthful spin. The plunging neckline and short hem were tempered by the flirty paillettes and neutral color. I’m a huge fan mixing neutral tones—especially when nude heels are involved, which is why I liked this look. Since the entire outfit was made up of pale hues, I did a bold lip and tamed it with a soft romantic hairstyle.

Style Tip: When wearing a flashy dress, keep accessories minimal and neutral. Instead of piling on unnecessary arm candy or adding a sparkly clutch, opt for an interesting hairstyle or a fun color pop using makeup instead. This is a simple way to make your overall look more playful and fashion-forward.

How would you have styled my look?

ID Me: My Fancy Pants Polo Look

Yesterday I went to my very first polo match. I had the best time! If only every Sunday could be filled with champagne, sunshine, friends and polo... Anyway, my top and shorts are both Paper Crown and my shoes are from my LC Lauren Conrad collection for Kohl’s. My sunglasses are by The Row. My blouse was a dove grey shade and the shorts were an oatmeal color. I love mixing neutrals. It’s fresh, fashion-forward and easy.

Style Tip: Mix your neutrals. “Neutrals” are as classic as they are timeless. While basic shades can come across as boring, add a bold shoe and play with texture to keep your look interesting. I love the idea of blending different grades of taupe, beige and greys. For day, pair your neutral look with a fun lip and a fresh face. As for nighttime, work in one bright accessory such as a hot pink clutch for an extra pop.

What did you do this Sunday?

Last night, I hosted a Paper Crown event for Fashion’s Night Out at Nordstrom in Los Angeles. First off, thank you to everyone who came last night! So nice to meet all of you! The event was a great success and it is all thanks to you and your support.

For last night’s event, I wore the Lola Dress from my Paper Crown line with a pair of platform Mary Jane Pumps by Miu Miu. I wanted to wear something elegant, but still be flirty and fun. I kept my accessories down to the bare minimum to keep the look glamorous, but with a modern twist.

Shop my look! Everything I wore is available at Nordstrom. Here are the links:

Style Tip: If a dress is particularly simple (as is the case with the Lola Dress), go with it! Minimalism is incredibly chic—especially when you accessorize with a cute pair of shoes, great hair, and a fresh face. Simplicity is beautiful and it’s an easy look to pull off. In the wise words of Coco Chanel, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off!”

What did you do (and wear) for Fashion’s Night Out?
